Bye Bye Carpet!

Thomas and I purchased our first home together in 2010. Of course there were many things we loved about it, but a few we (more me) hated. We had all of these wonderful plans to redo things before we ever moved in. As every one knows, we got some done and decided to move in anyways!

We repainted every single square inch of the house. I'm glad we did, I absolutely love our main wall color, just don't ever ask me to paint ever again. We also had big dreams of replacing all of the counter tops. They are this weird brown color. It wouldn't be a terrible color with a different cabinet, but it just looks so weird with our cabinets. Not sure what the previous owner was thinking when they were building the house. The tile in the kitchen is also a really weird brown color. Don't get me wrong, I love brown. Brown threw up in almost every room in my house, but this tile in the kitchen is so......wrong! Plus it was cheaply done and now the grout is starting to come out. Those are a few things I can't wait to change, but I will have to keep waiting.

For now, we are FINALLY ripping out our gawd awful, cheap, stained up, worn out carpet!! Keep in mind this house is only 6 years old, but the carpet that was installed had to have been the cheapest they could find. It's just gross. It doesn't help that we have two fur babies who come in and out as they please, tracking in all kinds of things. Makes it even harder to keep the gross carpet from becoming unlivable.

Saturday night Thomas ripped out the carpet and pulled up most of the tack strips. Sunday we went and purchased all of the wood (holla!) and got it stacked up in the house. We had a day full of plans so he hasn't had a chance to keep working, but his plan is to work every night this week and have it all done by the weekend. I'm skeptical on his time frame, but let's be honest, I am over the moon excited about the carpet being gone and the beautiful wood floors going in. The color we chose is Highland Hickory. It's warm, textured and will really hold up well to the doggies claws.

Nothing beats walking around on gritty cement. Blech

Now if ya'll can just pray that I don't kill him between now and the floors being completed that would be fantastic :-)
